With no background experience in construction, Waner Construction has taught me critical skills that I will apply to my future career. Starting my internship, I knew little about the field experience in construction; however, my Superintendent helped me gain the necessary skills I needed. I learned about coordination with subcontractors, BMP’s, building layouts, inspections, and much more. I developed field management skills and learned how to use tools that I had never used before. Being hands-on and visually seeing how all the parts and pieces get put together made me appreciate how much workmanship it takes to build a project. I also got the opportunity to work in the office and assist in change orders and writing subcontracts. My work in estimating made me more proficient with the chance to help with solicitations and putting together bids for Bid Day. Waner has a professional-friendly environment where there is no need to be afraid to ask questions as everyone is willing to help, and I am thankful for the new knowledge and experiences Waner gave me.
